Israeli air forces launched raids early Thursday on two Hamas locations in Gaza in retaliation to Palestinian attacks that targeted southern Israel, eye witnesses said.

The shelling came a few hours after an Israeli army announcement stating that two missiles were launched on Wednesday from Gaza toward southern Israel.

Eye witnesses confirmed to Anadolu Agency that the Israeli jets launched two missiles on two locations of Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades – the armed wing of Hamas – in western Gaza and northwestern Khan Yunis in the southern part of Gaza.

An unknown group calling itself “Martyr Omar Hadid Brigade – Beit al-Maqdis” claimed responsibility for the attack.
