An Israeli setter on Wednesday used an electric saw to cut down around 20 olive trees near the Palestinian village of Talfit in the northern West Bank, eyewitnesses said.
The move provoked local Palestinian farmers to briefly detain the settler until he was freed by a group of other Jewish settlers who had shown up in the area, witnesses said.
Witnesses added that an Israeli force had since arrived in the area to investigate the incident.
In early January, Palestinians managed to prevent a group of extremist Jewish settlers from attacking farmers from Qusra, another village in the northern West Bank.
The settlers had intended to destroy property belonging to Palestinian farmers, but the farmers detained them inside a building and eventually handed them over to the Israeli army.
