No incursion into Gaza will go unpunished: Qassam Brigades

The Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian resistance faction Hamas, vowed on Friday that no Israeli incursion into the Gaza Strip would go unpunished.

"Gaza will always be a cemetery for invaders," Hamas spokesperson Abu Obeida told a press conference in Gaza City after four brigades members were killed in two separate Israeli attacks on Gaza since Thursday.

Three Qassam Brigades members, including a senior commander, were killed in the early hours of Friday in an Israeli raid in eastern Gaza. The strike came shortly after another Qassam member was killed by Israeli artillery fire in eastern Gaza.

"We are closely following the situation on the ground," Abu Obeida said. "The war hasn't stopped."

"There is a furious, secret war between the Palestinian resistance and the Zionist enemy that the average Palestinian doesn't even know about," he added.

Abu Obeida said that the three slain Qassam members had been killed in confrontations with an Israeli force that advanced 250 meters into the Palestinian enclave.

"The Israeli force was trapped in a well-prepared ambush laid by the Qassam Brigades," he said.

"Israeli forces thought they were entering territory free of resistance fighters," he said, adding that the three Qassam fighters had been killed after "causing severe damage" to Israeli forces.

According to Israeli officials, five Israeli soldiers were injured in clashes during an operation that sought to destroy a cross-border tunnel.

Last November, Israel signed an Egypt-brokered ceasefire with Gaza-based Palestinian groups following eight days of unrelenting Israeli raids on the strip that left 190 Palestinians dead and more than 1,500 injured.
