A Palestinian man on Tuesday succumbed to injuries sustained one week ago when he was run over by a car driven by a Jewish settler in the West Bank city of Qalqilya.
Abdel-Hafiz Mohamed Taim, 75, breathed his last at Darwish Nazal Hospital, where he was being treated for injuries sustained when he was run over by a car on the main street of Funduk village, east of Qalqilya, according to a hospital statement.
The settler later turned himself in to Israeli authorities.
The deceased man's son, Nidal, said that his father's death had come only seven months after his 44-year-old brother, Issam, was killed in a similar road accident also involving a Jewish settler.
Feras Beleh, head of the Funduk Village Council, told Anadolu Agency that Taim was "yet another victim of what we call 'the death road,' on which [Jewish] settlers regularly attack us with their vehicles."
Meanwhile, Ghassan Daghlas, responsible for the Israeli settlements file in Palestinian authority, slammed the repeated attacks by Jewish settlers, who usually enjoy the protection of the Israeli army.
"The attacks come within the context of the Israeli occupation policy of intimidating Palestinians with the aim of confiscating their land," he added.Last Mod: 22 Ekim 2013, 17:29
