A Palestinian resistance fighter was killed on Wednesday in an apparent Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the Gaza Health Ministry said.

The remains of Mohamed Salama al-Agla arrived at Al-Shifa Hospital following the attack, hospital spokesman Ashraf al-Qadra told Anadolu Agency.

In a brief statement, the Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, confirmed that al-Agla had been a group member, but provided no further details.

According to Palestinian security sources, the attack is believed to have been carried out by an Israeli aircraft that targeted al-Agla as he rode his motorbike near the border with Israel.

The Israeli army has not commented on the incident.

In 2012, Israel signed an Egypt-brokered ceasefire with Gaza-based Palestinian resistance factions.

The truce followed eight days of unrelenting Israeli raids on the strip that left 190 Palestinians dead and more than 1,500 injured.

Early Friday, Israeli jet fighters launched three raids against targets in Gaza. No casualties were reported
