The Palestinian presidency made intensive contacts with Arab, international and humanitarian parties to rescue Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp, which was recently overtaken by ISIL in Syria, local media reported Saturday.
The camp, which is located southern Syrian capital Damascus, was overtaken by ISIL members on Wednesday.
Humanitarian conditions are deteriorating in the camp due to unrelenting clashes between ISIL and others belonging to the Free Syrian Army, local activists told.
The Palestinian presidency said Saturday that Palestinian residents of the camp should not be part of any ongoing conflicts in Syria, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
It added that the presidency praised efforts made by the Palestine Liberation Organization to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the camp.
