Ramadan's first Friday prayer at al-Aqsa

Around 200,000 Muslims prayed the first Friday prayer of the holy month of Ramadan at al-Aqsa Mosque.

Worshipers from Jerusalem and the West Bank started flocking to al-Aqsa Mosque from dawn.

They were joined by hundreds of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army allowed around 500 worshipers from Gaza to travel to al-Aqsa Mosque.

Hundreds of Israeli police officers were spread out across the entrances and exits.

After the prayer ended, worshipers spread out across al-Aqsa to read Quran and listen to religious lectures.

For Muslims, Al-Aqsa represents the world's third holiest mosque.
