A Turkish NGO on Tuesday distributed monetary aid to homeowners in the Gaza Strip whose houses were wrecked during last summer's devastating Israeli onslaught on the strip.
"We provided 230 families whose homes were destroyed during the Israeli assault with $500 each," Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) Gaza representative Mehmet Kaya told The Anadolu Agency.
"The families were chosen based on a study conducted by our field research team in order to identify families who haven't received any aid or damages since the destruction of their homes," Kaya said.
At least 2,160 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed and nearly 11,000 injured in a 51-day Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip in July and August.
The offensive came to a halt on August 26 under an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire between Israel and Palestinian resistance factions.
