2 suspected ISIL terrorists killed in Ankara raid

World Bulletin / News Desk

Two suspected members of ISIL terror group were killed in a police raid early Sunday in the Turkish capital Ankara, the governor told reporters.

The two males -- aged between 25 and 30 -- were driven to the city from Istanbul in a private vehicle by a third individual, who confessed to plans for a terrorist attack after being arrested in an Istanbul police operation, Governor Ercan Topaca said.

The individual told officers he was a ISIL member and directed them to an Ankara address where the two other suspected ISIL members were located, Topaca said.

The two individuals responded to the police raid by attempting to engage in a gunfight but were killed by officers, the governor said.

A search of the residence revealed weapons, hand grenades and IEDs with high explosive power, Topaca said.
