Turkish Minister of National Defense Yilmaz said on Wednesday that Turkish-Azerbaijani relations are getting better, regarding the F-35 agreement.

A fifth generation warcraft F-35 agreement was signed on Wednesday in the 11th International Defence Industry Fair in Istanbul.

Stating that Turkey and Azerbaijan are one nation and two states, Turkish Minister of National Defense Ismet Yilmaz said, "Both our economic and political relations are getting better. The deal that was signed today is a declaration of a step to improve our already good relations".

Yilmaz emphasized that the relations will be made better with the production of Otokar, Roketsan and Machine and Chemical Industry (MKE). His Azerbaijani counterpart Safar Abiyev said that it is a step for closer relations in the future between two countries.

According to the deal, signed by Turkish Undersecretary of Defense Industry Murad Bayar and Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan Yavar Jamalov, MKE will produce Mp5-K machine gun, ROKETSAN 107-122 millimetre multiple rocket launcher and OTOKAR will be responsible for cobra production.

Steve O'Brian, speaking on behalf of deputy chair of Lockhead Martin company F-35 Programme Integration and Business Development, who held the presentation on F-35, stated that Turkish industry played an important role in carrying out the programme. He said, "In the past, the programme faced some difficulties but for the last three years, we could proceed in line with our project. We focused on finishing it timely and on decreasing the costs. We have completed 7 thousand flying hours and 4 thousand flights recently. We presented 7 airplanes to the US Air Forces, who ordered 65 airplanes to us. We plan to provide 36 more airplanes to them."

ALP AERO, ASELSAN, AYESAS, FOKKER ELMO, HAVELSAN, KALE AERO, MIKES, ROKETSAN, TUSAS, TUBITAK SAGE companies, which provided thousands of jobs in Turkey with their contribution to the development of the ammunition of Turk SOM and Lockhead Martin F-35 Lightning 2's international production, attended the signing ceremony.

ALP AERO will produce the structural parts of the body of F-35 airplane, the assemblies, components of landing gear and F135 titanium integration wing motors for the motor, whereas ASELSAN will work with Northrop Grumman on F-35 CNI set and develop optic components for the production progresses which is part of electro optical target system.

AYESAS will take charge in F-35's rocket remote control interface and be the supplier of the electronic cards of panoramic cabin screen. FOKKER ELMO will support TAI with all the central cable systems. HAVELSAN, which took part in the project to develop the training systems in Turkey, will conduct the production, integration and the development of precision guided Stand-Off Rockets, which are going to be used in F-35 internally together with ROKETSAN and TUBITAK SAGE.
