Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman and spokesperson Hüseyin Çelik has said rumors about a Cabinet reshuffle are all ungrounded because only Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would know the details of such a revision.
Holding a news conference at the AK Party headquarters on Wednesday, Çelik said: “All that is being said about a Cabinet revision is ungrounded. Up till now, none of these speculations have turned out to be true. I know the same as you about this issue. The esteemed prime minister is very closemouthed on such matters. Not a single person would know about the details of a Cabinet revision until it is approved by the president.”
Recently, there have been claims about a possible Cabinet reshuffle and which AK Party member will assume the post of which ministry.
Speaking to reporters earlier this month, Erdoğan did not rule out that he was planning to press ahead with changes to the Cabinet.
The incumbent Cabinet was established following the general elections in June of 2011.
Çelik, who earlier served as minister of culture and of education, said he learned about his appointment to these ministries from the television on both occasions.
“Every person has their own style of working. Perhaps you say, ‘If only the prime minister would invite the ministers and make an interview with them and learn their views [before their appointment].' No prime minister can establish a government in this way,” Çelik said.
