Cabinet convened under the leadership of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday at the Prime Ministry to discuss issues surrounding Syria and Erdoğan’s upcoming visit to Russia.
The Cabinet ministers reportedly talked about the jet crisis between Turkey and Syria, which occurred after Syria shot down a Turkish military jet in international airspace without warning last month. The raging violence in the Middle Eastern nation and the thousands of Syrian refugees who fled to Turkey to escape the violence in Syria were also on the agenda of the meeting.
The ministers were also expected to discuss Erdoğan’s upcoming trip to Russia, scheduled for Wednesday, and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Other topics being discussed included the recent Diyarbakır riots which broke out after pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) supporters were prevented from going ahead with their political rally after a ban by the Diyarbakır Governor’s Office and a fourth judicial reform package.Last Mod: 16 Temmuz 2012, 17:45
