The Turkish prime minister said on Friday that Turkey would establish special border troops, not a special army to counter PKK.

Turkey's Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said experienced military staff would be on duty in those troops for five years or for a longer time.

"We have been working on increasing training of security forces that counter terrorism and on making those forces more experienced," Erdogan told a meeting of his Justice & Development (AK) Party in Ankara.

"Our aim is to designate only professional personnel at our borders," Erdogan said.

Erdogan said this personnel, who knew geographical conditions and who were capable of responding to tactical attempts of the PKK, would be beneficial in getting the best results and giving the minimum loss to PKK.

"After we make required legal arrangements, we will take steps (for the professional military personnel at borders)," he said.

Erdogan said Turkey was also taking additional measures regarding border security, and re-building military outposts at borders.

"TOKI (Housing Development Administration of Turkey) is constructing 150 internal security and border military outposts, 141 observation towers, and 662 kilometers of highway across the border," he said.

Erdogan underlined importance of international cooperation in fight against PKK.

Erdogan said Turkey had mobilized all resources to fight PKK, and was holding talks with executives of the European Union (EU), Iraq, Iran, Syria, Russia and the United States.

"If we do not prevent support from abroad, this problem will continue," he said.

Erdogan also said around 150 mini unmanned aircraft, manufactured by local resources, were joining the operations.

A ceremony would be held later on Friday to launch the first local-manufactured unmanned aircraft, Erdogan said.

Erdogan said the aircraft were equipped with characteristics of heron aircraft and could fly at a higher altitude.

Turkey would also launch its first intelligence satellite in 2010, Erdogan also said.

Critics on MHP's stance

Erdogan slams nationalist opposition party National Movement Party (MHP) over its rejection to meeting with Prime Minister on PKK issue.

He said that "I refers MHP's avoing dialogue and meeting on such important issue to the willing of my people."

He said that he believed the Turkish people would slam such "unserious" stance on September 12, referring to the referendum on constitutional refprm package. 

Accusations to BDP

Erdogan said that it was so "meaningful" that Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) opposed to National Unity and Brotherhood, it provoked the process and it called on its electors not to vote in the refenrendum despite the constitutional changes are so close to its problems.

"On the one hand, you say "Our party ws closed for six times." But on the other hand you say "You will never go to vote" to people during voting in which the there is an article that makes harder, however, blocks a political party to be closed."

"So, Is there any trap here? I tmeans that they gain favour of terrorism," he said.
