Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek said Turkey's EU accession process was the country's strategic aim and government policy.
Cicek is in Brussels on a formal visit held a press meeting at Turkey's Permanent Representation in the EU on Thursday.
The Turkish parliament speaker reminded that he held talks with European Parliament President Martin Schulz and said they discussed the current situation in Turkey-EU relations as well as expectations of Turkey.
Cicek underlined that it was the 50th year of Ankara Agreement which was signed in order to enter the EU, and noted, "for 50 years, Turkey has been demanding to enter the EU as a government policy and a strategic option and aim. In that 50 years of time, there have been ups and downs between our relations time to time. However, as a result, Turkey is in a position which came into agreement with the EU as of today. But unfortunately, there are no chapters left to negotiate about. There is such a crooked relation with the EU."
Touching on the Cyprus issue, Cicek stressed that Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were wronged, and this was known by everybody. He underscored that Turkey was on the side of peace and permanent solutions.
