A brawl took place after several groups threw fireworks at police forces withdrawing from the Taksim Square following the issuance of permission by the Istanbul Governor's Office for the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) to gather at the Taksim Square on Saturday.
The Governorship of Istanbul permitted CHP groups to walk to Taksim Square after the CHP cancelled a "Freedom and Democracy Rally" that was to be held at the Kadikoy Square, on the Asian side of Istanbul, earlier in the day.
Receiving the permit to walk to the Taksim Square, a group of CHP supporters gathered together at Taksim. In the meantime, police forces began pulling out of the Taksim Square and Gezi Park.
Some of the groups threw fireworks at the police forces who were leaving the Taksim Square. Tensions broke out between the groups and police forces for a short while.
