Gezi Party (GZP) has been officially established on Wednesday with the logo of one human figure in the model of a rooted tree.

Gezi Party (GZP) has been officially established on Wednesday.

The head of the party is Resit Cem Koksal.

Establishment petition for the party was given to the Interior Ministry on October 1 and the enrollment of the party was made on ninth of October.

Headquarters of the party will be in Turkey's capital Ankara and the shortening of the party's name is stated as 'GZP'.

The logo of it consists of one human figure in the model of a rooted tree.

Meanwhile, another party in the name 'Once Insan Party' (Human First Party) headed by Yavuz Karahan had presented its petition to the Interior Ministry on October 1. Shortened as OP, the logo of the party consists of two human figures as man and woman side by side.

With the establishment of GZP and OP, the number of political parties in Turkey increased to 77.

The protests which started in reaction to a construction project in Taksim's Gezi Park, Istanbul turned into nation-wide demonstrations against the AK Party Government on June 1st and 2nd, leaving one death, dozens of injuries during the clashes with police, while hundreds got arrested.

The decision for pedestrianization of Taksim Square, the so-called Gezi Park Project, including expansion of pedestrian roads by taking the automobile traffic to the underground and re-building of an old military barrack called the Topcu Kislasi, originally built in Taksim in 1780 and destroyed in 1940, was approved in February 2012. According to officials, the new project was not going to decrease but increase the green areas in Taksim.
