Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Friday that most countries were only discussing the Syrian issue not actively taking part in solutions, adding "international community has failed in Syrian issue staying back all the time."
Gul visited Governor's Office in Kayseri and said regarding his impressions on Reyhanli town in Turkish southern city of Hatay, "the things experienced in Reyhanli are tragic. As I said before, it was the biggest terrorist attack in one move in Turkey, leaving 51 people dead. It is impossible to be away from the events in Syria, which is a neighbouring country of Turkey. In addition, it is quite normal that Turkey welcomes Syrian people who had to leave their country. Such things are the noble conducts in nations' history. Turkish nation has such types of noble conducts."
Gul said those, who caused or actively took part in the attacks, would be found somehow adding, "actually we know who they are, but as Turkey is a state of law, they are only suspects now. Of course, the courts will come to the last decision." Referring to the Syrian regime's use of ballistic missile against its own people, Gul said, "it is first in the world's history that a country uses ballistic missile in its own lands. That is very sad."
Gul criticized the western world saying that most countries were only discussing the Syrian issue not actively taking part in solutions.
He said Turkey was active enough and wanted to see that all the countries take a more active role.
"The theory that the western world adopts 'lead from behind' must be changed," said Gul, adding, "as it means western world should support to a little degree without actually taking active part in the process."Last Mod: 17 Mayıs 2013, 17:59
