Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Torgeir Larsen said on Wednesday "Turkey is doing incredible job for Syrians," praising Turkish government's efforts in sheltering the Syrian refugees.
Norwegian Deputy FM Larsen visited the tent city in Nizip town of the southeastern Turkish province Gaziantep sheltering 11 thousand Syrian refugees, with the accompanying of Turkish Foreign Ministry representative for refugee camps Suphi Atan and some other officials.
Receiving information on the efforts in camps from the camp officials, Larsen also visited the schools educating Syrian children and the market in the tent city.
Larsen, speaking to the press, pointed out the tragedy in Syria and stated that they would give support to the Syrian people as much as they could.
"The number of people escaping from the war is rising day by day. Turkey's role of sheltering and hosting the Syrian refugees is impressive. Turkish government is doing incredible job with its efforts. I am here to convey support to the Turkish government on behalf of the Norwegian government," said Larsen.
Reminding his visit to another refugee camp in Turkey last year, Larsen stressed the need for international support not only to the Syrian people but also to Syria's neighboring countries.
The number of Syrian refugees taking shelter in the refugee camps and several provinces in Turkey has reached 400 thousand since the start of the civil war in Syria almost 2 years ago, according to the last statement of Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay.
