'NSU case's public side should be investigated': Turkish Deputy PM

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag highlighted Thursday that international precautions should be taken within the scope of racism and Islamophobia, warning that "new Solingens" could exist.

Bozdag during his visit to France stated that several Turkish citizens have lost lives in last 20 years after Solingen event and noted that the number of racist attacks have risen instead of a decline.

Reminding that he was in Germany's Solingen region on Wednesday, where Turks were murdered by neo-Nazis, Bozdag said, "Yesterday was a tragedy's anniversary. On May 29, 1993 Genc family lost their 5 children in a racist rooted fire. We were there to commiserate with them [...] We were there to show that we are against racist, separatist policies and Islamophobia and not to have similar events happening again".

He underlined that Mayor of Solingen city and other officials have taken lessons from the event, adding that the number of racist attacks have risen instead of a decline. "There is not even one day, spent without any attack. Hundreds of mosques, non governmental organizations, individuals and working places are unfortunately the objects of separatist people".

NSU case's public side should be investigated, too

Bozdag stated that if National Socialist Underground's (NSU) case would end with a judicial remedy message, those who conduct racist attacks would not get encouraged.

"We emphasized that it was important to end this case neutrally and objectively [...] How couldn't you remark these for ten years? Have some seen it but acted as if they did not? Weren't enough precautions taken? Is or isn't there a neglect, an intention? There is no investigation to reveal the public side of the issue. We don't think that it's right to say that "there is no neglect or an intention" without any research and investigation. These kind of statements give courage to those who did the murders," Bozdag stated.

Bozdag emphasized that international community should see the "struggle against racism" as a total contest and said that United Nations should not decide only on poverty, economic underdevelopment, counter terrorism but also on racism, discrimination and Islamophobia to be practised in every country.

Reason needed for taking Turkish children away from their families

Bozdag reminded also that children are also taken away from their families in Turkey, as in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland, by saying," We don't object the issue if there is a benefit for the child but there should be objective reasons to take a child from the family".

He added that these children should be given primarily to Turkish and Muslim families, after they have been taken from their families and told that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan instructed to build family consultancies and attache's offices, where women, children, disabled people and elderly would be nursed.

Bozdag stated that Turkish citizens living outside of Turkey would be able for the first time to vote in their neighbourhoods in 2014 elections. He added that Turkish consulates would be the site of voting if necessary permits are not granted by certain neighbourhoods.
