Mustafa Sarıgul, the popular mayor of Sisli, one of Istanbul's busiest districts, called Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan “a world leader” on a radio show on Wednesday night.
Speaking on a television show on Thursday, CHP leader Kemal Kılıcdaroglu stated that he disagrees with the words of Sarıgul, who has just returned to the main opposition CHP this week after being expelled from the party in 2005.
He joined the CHP's ranks on Sunday following a CHP Party Council (PM) meeting the same day.
Sarıgul is expected to become the Republican People's Party (CHP) mayoral candidate for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
