Turkey freezes assets of Al-Qaeda and Taliban

Turkish Council of Ministers decided to freeze the assets of 219 real and 63 legal persons listed by the UN Security Council to have close ties with Al-Qaeda and those of 130 real and 4 legal persons to have close ties with Taliban.

Turkish Council of Ministers decided to freeze the assets of 219 real and 63 legal persons listed by the UN Security Council to have close ties with Al-Qaeda and those of 130 real and 4 legal persons to have close ties with Taliban.

The Council of Ministers resolution in relation to the freeze of the assets of the people and corporations listed by the UN Security Council has been published in official gazette.

In accordance with the resolution, the assets of people and corporations listed by the UN Security Council Resolutions 1267 (1999), 1988 (2011) and 1989 (2011) were decided to be frozen in Turkey.

In line with the resolution, the assets of 219 real and 63 legal persons listed by the UN Security Council to have close ties with Al-Qaeda and those of 130 real and 4 legal persons to have close ties with Taliban have been frozen.

A law suit can be initiated in the state council against the resolution in 60 days.

Besides, six Council of Ministers resolutions passed before February 16, 2013 which is the effective date of the Law in Relation to Preventing the Finance of Terrorism have been abolished.
