AK Party announced it had appointed Yasin Aktay as the deputy chairman for foreign affairs.

Turkey's ruling party appoints new deputy chairman
Turkey's ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party announced Thursday it had appointed Yasin Aktay as the deputy chairman for foreign affairs.

Aktay, a professor of sociology and a member of the party's top decision making body, was appointed to the post earlier this week.

Aktay replaced Mevlut Cavusoglu, who has taken the role of the country's EU minister and chief negotiator.
