Turkish charity opens 5th orphanage in Bangladesh

Turkish NGO Humanitarian Relief Foundation opened its fifth children's orphanage, "Sultan Abdul Hamid II Fraternity Orphanage" in central Gazipur City on Friday.

Mehmet Celik, from the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) Board of Directors spoke during the opening ceremony of the orphanage for boys, saying "All Muslims are siblings. We came here to your country to reinforce our fraternity. Hopefully you will be great men in the future and serve your country and all humanity."

The three-floor orphanage cost around 600,000 TL (US$285,000) and has 20 dormitories, one study hall, a reading room, dining room and kitchen. The orphanage which now hosts some 45 students has the capacity to cater for 100 students.

The orphanage is located in Gazipur City near the capital Dhaka, which is home to around 1.2 million people.
