A Turkish criminal court sentenced on Tuesday an independent lawmaker to two years in prison.

A criminal court in the eastern province of Van ruled that independent lawmaker Aysel Tugluk should serve two years in prison on charges of orchestrating the propaganda of the terrorist organization or PKK.

Van Deputy Chief Prosecutor's Office with a special authority was conducting an investigation into a speech Tugluk made in Yuksekova town of the southeastern province of Hakkari on March 17, 2010.

Tugluk was elected an independent MP in June 12th general elections.
