Turkish Deputy Premier Bülent Arınç on Wednesday visited Visoko Mayor Amra Babic, Europe's first mayor to wear the Islamic headscarf, in the Bosnian capital city of Sarajevo.

On the first stop of his two-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Arınç came together with Babic, who won the local elections on Oct. 7, 2012, and became Europe's first mayor to wear the headscarf. Turkish Ambassador in Sarajevo Ahmet Yıldız and other members of the diplomatic delegation accompanied Arınç during his visit to Babic.

Arınç will head to the city of Zenica on Thursday, where he will address students at Zenica University and later visit the tracking and communication house of Turkish troops who are on duty as part of European Union Force (EUFOR).

Later on Thursday, Arınç will pay a visit to the grave of Alija Izzetbegovic, the first president of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He will also meet separately with Bosnian member of the Presidential Council of Bosnia-Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegovic and Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zlatko Lagumciya.
