Tayfun Icli, an independent lawmaker from the central Anatolian province of Eskisehir, joined ranks with the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) on Tuesday.

The CHP's new recruit brought up the number of its lawmakers in the parliament to 103 as the number of independent MPs dropped to six.
