Turkish opposition leader begins official visit in Washington

Chairman of Turkey's Republican People's Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu was welcomed with a dinner given in his honor by the Turkish Embassy in Washington on Saturday evening, as part of his first visit to the US as the chairman of Turkey's main opposition party.

Kilicdaroglu will attend on Sunday the reception organized by his party's representative office in Washington alongside holding talks.

Kilicdaroglu will also come together with Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) and Turkish-American Scientists and Scholars Association (TASSA) officials on Sunday.

During his four-day-visit in Washington, Kilicdaroglu will also meet with the Senior Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council Karen Donfried at the White House.

Kilicdaroglu will deliver speeches at the Brookings Institute, a nonprofit public policy organization based in Washington DC, and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

Kilidaroglu will also hold a press conference prior to his departure for Turkey.
