Turkish parliament to open on October 1

Turkish Parliament will re-open on October 1 after a summer recess.

The Parliament General Assembly will convene with a special agenda on October 1, the first day of the new legislative term.

The session will begin with Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek's remarks and President Abdullah Gul will then address the General Assembly.

The reception, hosted every year by the parliament speaker at the beginning of legislative years, will not take place this year.

Cicek had earlier said that a reception would not take place this year on the first day of the new legislative term due to increasing PKK attacks.
