Major General Gurbuz Kaya Sunday gave information to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the PKK attack that occurred in Semdinli town of Southeastern province of Hakkari on Saturday.
Erdogan, accompanied by Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug, State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, State Minister Hayati Yazici, National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, Interior Minister Besir Atalay, Air Forces Commander Gen. Hasan Aksay, and Gendarmerie General Commander Gen. Atila Isik, arrived in Battalion Command in Tekeli Region in Semdinli.
Chief of General Staff Gen. Basbug said some media reported number of militants around 250, noting this figure was not correct.
Gen. Basbug said, "an 57-people terrorist group came to the region and 23-people terrorist group launched the attack."
Following the briefing, Erdogan visited soldiers who were slightly injured in the attack.
Erdogan later visited Gediktepe Region where the infiltrations and first clashes with the militants occurred.
Erdogan will again proceed to eastern province of Van after observing the region.
