Turkish President Abdullah Gul expressed Thursday his pleasure over increasing cooperation with Iraq, during his gathering with country's Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.
"Not just two countries will benefit from strong cooperation between Turkey and Iraq, but all the region," Gul told Zebari during their gathering, according to a written statement released by Turkish presidency's official website.
Turkish president also touched upon the recent attacks in Iraq, which has surged in recent months, reaching its highest level since 2008.
"Terror attacks are a source of distress not just for Iraqis but for Turkish people as well. Turkey will continue supporting the efforts of Iraqi politicians to bring stability to the country," he said.
For his part, Zebari underlined the importance of latest high-level visits between the two countries in terms of stepping up the relations.
The Iraqi foreign minister is scheduled to meet with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday.Last Mod: 25 Ekim 2013, 10:09
