Turkish President says Egypt in sensitive period

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that Egypt was passing through a sensitive period, and all groups should act with common sense and patience within the scope of democracy and supremacy of law during that period.

We hope Egypt will be developed on the basis of dialogue, added Gul who left for Egypt on Tuesday to attend the 12th summit meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Gul said that he would meet Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and discuss bilateral relations as well as recent regional and international developments.

Gul said that the trade volume between Turkey and Egypt increased more than 50 percent since 2008, and exceeded five billion USD in 2012.

Noting that Syria, Palestine and Mali would be on top of the agenda of the OIC summit meeting, Gul said that a special session would be held about the settlements in Palestine, and he would deliver a speech in that session.

Turkey is a candidate to host the next summit, he reminded.
