Unofficial results from a referendum Sunday in Turkey over a government-backed package of constitutional reforms showed that 58 percent of the voters approved the amendments while 42 percent voted against.

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, whose AK Party faces a re-election bid in a poll due by July 2011, had pushed strongly for changes, while most opposition parties campaigned against the referendum.
