F-35 jets fail to beat Chinese and Russian radars

Senior aerospace analyst for at Aviation Week, Bill Sweetman, has claimed that the U.S. is winding down its F-35 Joint Strike Fighter warplanes, which has been plagued with a number of technical problems, after it was found that it was easily detected by Chinese and Russian radars.

“The F-35 is susceptible to detection by radars operating in the VHF bands of the spectrum,” Sweetman was quoted saying in the World Tribune.

“The fighter’s jamming is mostly confined to the X-band, in the sector covered by its APG-81 radar. These are not criticisms of the program but the result of choices by the customer, the Pentagon,” he added.

In his analysis in Aviation Week and the Daily Beast on Monday, Sweetman claimed that the U.S. airforce would have to use a special electronic warfare aircraft to protect JSF from being detected, as its own radar jamming systems were flawed.

Sweetman also added that the Pentagon had long known that the jet was easily picked up by VHF radars.

This revelation comes as a blow to Turkey and Israel, the only two countries that agreed to procure the F-35 fighter jets, with Israel planning to acquire 19 by the end of the decade.

Certainly would like more evidence than just a AW&ST writer's word. Where did the information come from? Was it a test that was published or is this just a guess based on details in the press?

Pretty sure the F-35 was never intended to be invisible to these types of radar anyway?

Turkish purchase of F35 will result in subsidizing the Israel "purchase", since USA routinely donates military hardware to Israel as "foreign aid". Drones would be much more cost effective; drone aircraft are less expensive and could be much more maneuverable; superior "dog fight" capability.
