Google has announced a project of self-driving cars with nothing but a stop-go button.
Pictures of the cars, which will have no controls, steering wheel or pedals, were revealed by co-founder Sergey Brin at a conference in California.
"We're really excited about this vehicle - it's something that will allow us to really push the capabilities of self driving technology, and understand the limitations," Chris Urmson, director of the company's self-driving project, was quoted by BBC.
The vehicle will be limited to 40km/h to help ensure safety and with soft foam-like material on the front bumper to protect pedestrians, as well as a flexible windscreen.
Using laser and radar sensors along with a camera to drive autonomously, the car will depend on Google's road maps, built specifically for the program.
"We'll see these vehicles on the road within the year," Mr Urmson said.Last Mod: 28 Mayıs 2014, 18:03
