Golfing legend Tiger Woods was in Istanbul on Tuesday for a photo shoot on the famous Bosporus Bridge, which connects the two continents of the city, marking the start of the Turkish Airlines Open 2013 golf tournament.

The bridge was closed to traffic between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. local time while the photo shoot takes place.

The tournament, which starts on Thursday, will be held at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal course in Antalya. This is the first time Turkey will be hosting an official European Tour event.

Tiger Woods, who played in the World Golf Finals in Turkey last year said, "I had a great time during my first visit to Turkey... and I'm looking forward to playing there once again."

World Golf Final winner Justin Rose, FedExCup winner Henrik Stenson, WGC-Champions Tournament runner-up Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell are favorites to take the €848,930 prize. Former world number one Lee Westwood is also participating in the 78-man tournament. Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia, however, will not be participating.

Thanks for the extra two hours in traffic Tiger--so sad to interfere in your photo shoot. Such a great idea to do it so near rush hour too.
