Ankara 'on alert' against possible terror threats

World Bulletin / News Desk

The governorate of the Turkish capital Ankara issued a statement early Monday, saying that security measures increased against possible terror attack threats.

According to the statement, the governorate was tipped off by the U.S. Embassy in Ankara about possible terror threats against U.S. embassy personnel and U.S. citizens living in the city.

In 2015 and 2016, several terror attacks happened in the Turkish capital by PYD/PKK and ISIL terrorist groups, claiming innocent lives and injuring many others. There were no incidents in the capital last year.
