Search and rescue teams on Tuesday recovered the body of one of the miners still trapped in a flooded mine in the central Karaman province, a Turkish relief agency said.
Non-stop rescue efforts to recover the remaining 5 others are still ongoing, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Authority added.
There were 34 workers trapped inside the mine located some 400 kilometers south of Ankara, in Karaman’s Ermenek district, when a water pipe exploded, flooding the mine, on Oct. 28. A total of 18 were said to be trapped in the mine.
Search and rescue teams have recovered a total of 13 bodies in intense search and rescue efforts through slime and mud.
