King Mohamed VI of Morocco received on Monday an invitation to visit Turkey during a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Moroccan royal court has announced.

The two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East region, especially the Palestinian cause, the court said in a statement.

"The Turkish president lauded the role played by King Mohamed – in his capacity as head of the Al-Quds Committee – in serving the Palestinian cause and preserving holy sites," it added.

The leader leaders underlined the depth of their countries' time-honored relations as well as mutual cooperation.
