Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said on Friday that Gaddafi had no choice but to give up power.

Frattini, who is attending the fourth meeting of Libya Contact Group at Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, replied to questions of reporters.

A final declaration which would be issued at the end of the meeting would say that Transitional National Council would be the representative of Libyan people, he said. "Gaddafi has no choice but to give up power," Frattini said.

Asked whether Italy would boost its contribution to NATO's air operations, Frattini said that any increase in contribution was out of question, but they supported all activities of NATO.
