Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Syrian refugees on Saturday in Turkey’s southeastern province of Gaziantep.
President of the EU Council Donald Tusk and First Vice-President of EU Commission Frans Timmermans were also present.
They were first met by Syrian children wearing traditional outfits. Davutoglu, Merkel and Tusk had their photos taken with children. The program is being followed by some 300 journalists from all over the world.
Davutoglu’s wife Sare Davutoglu, Deputy PM Mehmet Simsek, EU Minister and top negotiator Volkan Bozkir, Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan, Minister of Interior Affairs Efkan Ala and head of the Syria High Negotiations Committee Riad Hijab were also present during the ceremony.
