Turkey worried over Syria partition

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that there is a concern over possible Syria partition and, at the same time, reiterated that Ankara will not let Democratic Union Party (PYD) to open any kind of a corridor in northern Syria and is willing to do what is necessary to prevent it.

"Everyone has worries over the partition. We have those as well. Why? Because some back PYD and YPG (People's Protection Units) as they seek to obtain a corridor in the north. We, like you, are following who it is backed by. Turkey has previously said we are not going to let such a corridor emerge in Syria's north, and will do what is necessary in this regard.

A corridor of contiguous territory created by the PYD and YPG, which Ankara considers to be terrorist organizations affiliated with the PKK, would be "an imminent threat" for Turkey, Erdoğan said. "We shared this especially with the coalition allies and will continue to share it," he asserted.
