Two people were killed and four wounded on Monday when two mortar shells landed near a school in the Turkish town of Kilis on the Syrian border.

The wounded were immediately rushed to hospital. Unconfirmed reports said the shelling on the Eyüp Gökçe middle school likely came from Syria.

Kilis governor Süleyman Tapsız has gone to inspect the site. Whereas the town mayor Hasan Kara has urged citizens to stay calm.
