The 25-year-old Croatian activist and presidential candidate Ivan Vilibor Sincic has been detained as he tried to help a family avoid being evicted from their home over an unpaid debt.

Croatian police said in a written statement on Friday that Sincic, a member of political activist organization Living Wall, was detained after he breached a security cordon and failed to comply with the instructions of police at the house of the Bojic family, who were being legally evicted in the capital, Zagreb.

Another 31 people seeking to halt the eviction were also detained.

The Living Wall organization is known for its support for people being evicted from their homes over unpaid loans.

Sincic had been detained twice before in similar incidents.

Sincic was the third candidate in the first round of the presidential elections on Dec. 28 with 16.42 percent of the vote, but he failed to qualify for the second round.
