A group of Iranian delegates led by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during the Geneva talks has returned to Iran and was welcomed by many Iranians holding Zarif’s and President Hassan Rouhani’s pictures at Mehrabad Airport. The crowds held placards, one of which read “Welcome the messenger of peace!”.
Zarif made a brief comment to state-run IRIB TV at the airport and said the initial deal was reached and Iran is ready to continue for a final and sustainable agreement from tomorrow onwards. Iranian foreign minister also said that the greatest gain for Iran was the official recognition of Iran’s uranium enrichment program and added that the world countries understood the fact that Iran was not after nuclear weapons.
A deal on Iran's contreversial nuclear program was reached between Iran and 5 UNSC members and Germany in Geneva. The deal will be a pre-text for a broader agreement regarding Iran’s nuclear activities.
