US will keep 19 of its embassies in North Africa and the Middle East closed until August 10 as a precaution due to a possible threat.
The US authorities, making some arrangements in the list of 22 embassies, reported 19 US representations would be closed until next Saturday.
The potential for an Al Qaeda attack in the Middle East and North Africa was shown as the strong reason for the closures.
US diplomatic missions in Algiers, Kabul and Baghdad were among those which would reopen on Monday, Washington said.
However, its diplomatic posts in Abu Dhabi, Amman, Cairo, Riyadh, Dhahran, Jeddah, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Manama, Muscat, Sanaa and Tripoli would remain closed until Saturday.
US lawmakers claimed that it was the biggest precaution since September 11.
Meanwhile, a US global travel alert would be valid until the end of month.
The UK Foreign Office had earlier announced it would shut its mission in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, until Tuesday and called on its citizens to leave the country.Last Mod: 06 Ağustos 2013, 09:12
